New project of our unresting Dominic Keating - narrator of "THE ILIAD" (audiobook)

When I read Dominic Keating's honest and admirable statement

"I'm currently reading / recording a new translation of The Iliad by Caroline Alexander for HARPER.It's without doubt the most difficult thing I've ever done as an actor but deeply rewarding and filling me with a healthy sense of achievement as each day passes."

I said "WOW - I have to hear it - as soon as possible!"

In school I learned Latin and so I came a bit "in touch" with "The Iliad" - and with a lot of "little helpers" for pupils because it is very, very hard to read.

Why is "The Iliad" so hard to read?

I think the first sentence in Wikipedia.org - Iliad should be enough to have a feeling why it's hard to read this book:

"The Iliad (/ˈɪliəd/;[1] Ancient Greek: Ἰλιάς Ilias, pronounced [iː.li.ás] in Classical Attic; sometimes referred to as the Song of Ilion or Song of Ilium) is an ancient Greek epic poem in dactylic hexameter, traditionally attributed to Homer."

What is "The Iliad" about?

It's tells about 51 years within the ten-year-long Trojan war between Troy and the Greek. The central topic of "The Iliad" is anger.  Anger affects all acting persond, that means gods as well as heroes and that leads to an inescapable fate.

What is the characteristic of "The Iliad"?

It is said to be one of the most important work of the whole world literature.

It deals much about the gods of the antiquity.

It's written in dactylic hexameter - a classical rhythmic scheme in poetry. The book has 15,693 verses (source: de.wikipedia.org - Ilias)

Where and when can we buy this Dominic Keating's audio book?

When? Anticipated release date Apr 19, 2016

Where? For example here: Recordedbooks.com - "The Iliad" narrated by Dominic Keating

Preordering? Yes, it's possible here to: httRecordedbooks.com - "The Iliad" narrated by Dominic Keating

Dominic Keating has my deep respect for narration of such a difficult book and I'm looking forward to hear it!

Warm wishes to you all!
Yours Gabi
